1. Bookings and Payment
Holiday Bookings
Before booking your trip, please ensure you have read the trip itinerary fully, are familiar with our grading system and are comfortable with the grade of holiday you have chosen. You must ensure that you have a level of fitness appropriate to the trip you have chosen. To book one of our holidays, please submit payment as detailed below and send us a complete booking form. You can either mail or fax this back to us or you can submit the booking form online direct. Reservations are secured with a deposit as follows:
  • 30% of cost per person for our weekend breaks
  • 30% of cost for a week long holiday.
  • 30% of cost for a 2 week tour
Payment is peferred online via the invoice emailed to the client. We can accept online payment by credit card (Visa/Mastercard/Amex), Debit cards (Switch, Delta, Visa Electron, Solo). None online payment can be bank transfer (BACS), sterling cash or cheques. Cheques should be made payable to "WS Advntures Ltd". To request payment via bank transfer, please contact us for details. The balance of payment is due 8 weeks before the holiday start date and holidays booked after this date should be paid in full on booking. The full payment, when made after the balance of payment due period, is non-refundable. In accordance with EU Package Tour Regulations, your holiday pre-payments will be held in a separate account until your holiday is completed.
Team development (Corporate) bookings
50% of the full fee is payable in advance as a deposit to secure the booking. The remaining balance is payable 7 days prior to the start of the programme.
 
2. Holiday Alterations
If you would like to change your holiday then, subject to availability, we will do all that we can to assist you. Any changes that take place in advance of 6 weeks before the holiday start date will be charged £25 per person administration costs. Changes made within 6 weeks of the holiday start date will be treated as a cancellation of the original booking.
 
3. Cancellations
Holidays
All cancellations must be notified in writing (post, email or fax). The deposit is forfeited on any cancellation. The full payment for your holidays is forfeited for cancellations received less than 6 weeks prior to the start of the holiday.
Team development (Corporate)
If a Client wishes to cancel their Programme they must notify us in writing (post, email or fax). The cancellation takes effect from the date the notification is received by Walkabout Scotland. Cancellations will be accepted up to 20 working days before the commencement of the Programme where 50% of the fee will be retained. If cancellation is made less than 20 working days before the commencement of the Programme, then the full fee must be paid.
 
4. Cancellations by Walkabout Scotland
Walkabout Scotland reserve the right to cancel or vary tours at our own discretion. Should a tour be cancelled by Walkabout Scotland then we will inform you immediately and full refunds or the offer of an alternative holiday for the same value will be given, however we shall not be held responsible for any costs incurred by you or monies lost as a result of cancellation and you are therefore advised to take out appropriate holiday insurance. We reserve the right to alter tour itineraries due to weather conditions or other circumstances outwith our control, as we see fit.
 
5. Insurance
We strongly recommend that you take out insurance for the duration of your trip to cover cancellation, injury, death, loss or damage to personal belongings and liability to third parties. All overseas visitors must have insurance to cover accident and repatriation. If you need further information on insurance please contact us. 6. Safety
All our leaders are suitably qualified and experienced guides, however participants should note that hillwalking and mountaineering activities carry an inherent degree of risk. Walkabout Scotland cannot accept liability or responsibility for circumstances outwith our control and participants take part at their own risk.
You must let us know in advance if you have any illness or medical condition which may interfere with your walking ability. Participants whose fitness level is deemed to be unsuitable for the intended walking programme or who are deemed to have inadequate walking equipment, may at the discretion of the tour leader be asked to make alternative arrangements. No compensation will be offered to this. The weather in Scotland is highly variable and participants must be properly equipped.
In the interests of group safety all group members must abide by the decisions of the tour leader.
Please note that due to current government legislation we are currently unable to take anyone under the age of 18 without their legal guardian being present.
 
7. Complaints
Should you have any complaints about any element of your tour then please make these known to the tour leader as soon as possible so that we can attempt to rectify them and avoid spoiling your tour. If you have any complaint after your trip please write to Walkabout Scotland and provide full details. All claims and complaints against Walkabout Scotland will be dealt with under Scottish Law and Custom.
Acceptance of the above conditions is implied when a booking is made.
